Three days BSF-BGB regional meeting begins
The three days Inspectors General (IGs) Border Security Force - Region Commanders Border Guards Bangladesh co-Ordination conference s tartedat the frontier headquarters of BSF-Tripura in Salbagan on Wednesday morning to discuss various issues related to the border.
The BGB delegation has been led by his Tanveer Gani Chowdhury ADG, region commander South East Region, Chattogram along with Mohammad Shahidul Islam, ADG, Region Commander, North East Region, Sarail and 11otherdignitaries.
On the Indian side the BSF delegation led by Sumit Sharan,IG of Tripura frontier along with Inderjit Singh Rana, IG, BSF, Meghalaya Frontier and Binay Kumar Jha, IG BSF, Mizoam and Cacher Frontier with nine other delegates.
BSF sources said that during the conference, various issues of mutual interest for effective border management will be discussed which include joint efforts against trans-border crime, measures to check illegal cross-border movement, and efforts to curb the smuggling of drugs, narcotics etc. The matter related to the Coordinated Border Management Plan is also to be discussed which includes simultaneous coordinated patrols, sharing of information of value and increased frequency of meetings at all levels. Conduct of various other activities like games, sports etc which may go a long way in enhancing confidence building between both the Border Guarding Forces, will also be discussed which would certainly instill faith and confidence among the border population of both sides, ultimately resulting in peace and tranquility along the border.
